Private LOCKSS Networks: Community-based Approaches to Distributed Digital Preservation (October 2010, Boston)

This meeting will provide a forum for the current Private LOCKSS Networks (PLNs) to share information about their work with each other and with a broader community of interest. The primary intent is to help these individual community-based networks to themselves form a PLN community that actively shares knowledge, expertise, and tools in an ongoing manner. Co-sponsored by the Educopia Institute and the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program (NDIIPP), this conference will have two parts:

  1. To explore general principles involved with operating a distributed digital preservation network among collaborating partners;
  2. To consider issues specific to using the LOCKSS technology, which is currently the leading technical strategy for distributed digital preservation network building.
